You are a Reaper

Deborah Walker is sixteen and Marrowgate is her third town in two years. New school, new house, a dad who fixes boats and doesn't ask questions. And his girlfriend Renée, who asks all of them. Is Deb your regular high schooler? Not quite. She sees monsters, demons and vampires. And also, she cannot tell anyone. Because who would believe her?

A year ago, something horrible came out of a drain and Deb became what she is now. Nobody explained anything to her. Now the new guidance counselor seems to know more than he should, she carries a weapon she calls Gary, the brick in this town crumbles on its own, and eldritch things crawl out of it. And to top it all off: she has to act in secret.

The halls of Marrowgate High

By day

Marrowgate High

Classes, lunch, and afternoons that are yours: will you study at the Save Point café? Catch a rock band at the Low Tide? Train for combat with your tutor? Or go home early, reassure your family, and call it rest? You make the decisions, but every choice has consequences. Deb's mood, her fatigue after patrols against the creatures: they will all have an effect. This semester becomes your entire campaign.

  • Pick your outfit of the day, manage your pocket money, complete your bestiary, handle even your grades!
  • Interact through nearly 1,400 possible game scenes
  • Fight situations drawn from random decks, or shaped by your choices
  • A branching story of more than 500,000 words
  • Mood, Fatigue, Cover, Popularity and Respect, shifting with what you do
Deb and Hale at a crumbling wall

By night

Something under the brick

After dinner, Deb can slip out the window or make up whatever excuse you choose. Patrols and missions play out as turn-based tactical fights, side by side with her companions. Dual-class Deb the way you prefer, pick prestige classes for your friends, upgrade skills to unlock their elite versions, and form different alliances every run: there are tons of possibilities.

  • Click any enemy to read its monster sheet: learn what it can do and what it resists
  • Reinforcements, magic powers, devastating attacks: enemies and heroes alike have a whole arsenal
  • Several talent trees, skills that level up, and even a NEW GAME+ mode with new opponents
Dinner with Dad and Renée

At home

Back before curfew

Your dad isn't stupid, he just doesn't know what you're up to. Excuses get checked. The people around Deb remember your choices too. Careful though: keeping the secret has a price, but breaking it has another.

  • Cover: how much does Deb still look like a normal girl?
  • Excuses, a window, a porch gutter that might creak on the way down...
  • And how on earth do you save the world when you're basically grounded?

The rule

Honest odds

Almost nothing ends the game outright. You can win or lose fights, make choices here, and others there. Everything has consequences and there are many ways for it to end, for you and for your companions.

  • Real choices, honest odds, no plot armor
  • No game over: her life just goes on, a lost fight changes the days that follow
  • People remember what you said... and what you didn't!

The people who noticed

Deb planned to keep her head down at Marrowgate High. It lasted about a day.

  • Deborah Walker

    Deborah Walker

Used to be a swimmer; in this town, she's "the new girl". And in secret, one of the Reapers alive in the world. She hates it.

Okay, the monsters keep a schedule. So when do I get a life?

  • Dr. Emmett Hale

    Dr. Emmett Hale

The new part-time guidance counselor. An ironed shirt under tired eyes. What does he do all night?

I have a ninety-page file on the reasons to stay here. Short version: it's bad.

  • Milo Reyes

    Milo Reyes

AV club. Runs a cryptid Discord. Flies a drone called Pigeon.

Wait wait, Pigeon's about to do the thing! One reboot away. Five more minutes. Four. Okay, six. Seven.

  • Priya Sandhu

    Priya Sandhu

Junior EMT. Great backup. Knows how to talk about things. And how to see them.

If you come back with a new bite mark, I want to be the first to know. Any bite mark.

  • Dot Talbot

    Dot Talbot

Runs his family's boatyard. Solid. And courteous to the point of comedy.

Leaving? Then allow me to walk you out.

  • Sabine Duval

    Sabine Duval

Exchange student from the far tip of Brittany. Comes from a family of strong characters, and has theories about the occult.

There are doors that belong to this world, and doors that lead somewhere else.

The four tutors on the dock

Four tutors

Each one brings different scenes, gameplay options and a whole new skill tree. They even unlock new options for your next runs. You'll pick only one. But there are four of them.

Deb and the friends who came along

You'll have several companions: some from the start, others depending on your decisions. This semester, anything can happen!
